INEC Are Yet To Make a Decision on Adamawa Governorship Election

The freelance National Electoral Commission (INEC) is however to make a decision once to conduct the spot election in Adamawa State, following the recent official document of Governor Murtala Nyako and also the resignation of his deputy. The Speaker of the Adamawa State Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, is presently acting as governor.
INEC chairman, Attahiru Jega, disclosed this on Wed throughout a dialogue with reporters at Ibeto Hotels in Apo, a locality of Nigerian capital. Mr. Jega same the law was clear that the Commission had to conduct elections at intervals 3 months following the commencement of the speaker’s role as acting governor of a state.
The INEC chairman conjointly explained that the winner of the elections to be conducted at intervals 3 months would solely complete the tenure of the impeached governor, following that another spot election would be conducted in 2015.
Mr. Jega explicit that as of yesterday, the Commission had not received official notification concerning the previous governor’s official document, adding that INEC officers had followed the event through media reports. “We have to be compelled to be formally notified,” he argued. “Until we tend to get the notification, the Commission cannot meet. We’ll follow totally with the provisions of the law.”
